Based on your child’s unique needs, Pre-Treatment can include over the counter and/or prescription medications.
A Sneak Peek into a Launch Visit
Now that your data has been collected and analyzed, it’s time to review your immune system,
how it works with food, and how we can safely move it towards tolerance.
DAY01
Patch Placement
10-15 minutes
What is a patch test?
A patch test allows us to assess how the patient’s gastrointestinal tract reacts to various allergens, as the dendritic cells in the skin mimic those in the stomach.
What happens on Patch day?
Our Clinic staff will place a patch on your child’s back that contains food antigen. It must sit in an enclosed fashion on your child’s back for 24 hours.

Day 2 appointment typically takes 3-4 hours. Select each step below to learn more:
DAY02
Our Clinic staff will remove the patch and record your results.
Your child will typically go through a food challenge of a food to which they have tested negative to or has never been exposed to.
Your child will exercise in our exercise room for 5 minutes, to get their heart rate above 150-160 beats per minute, and will be monitored closely for observation.
A provider will explain your child’s specific treatment plan and review all the results gathered from our analytics with you. This is the best time to ask any questions you may have!
Your child’s Food Dosing Strategy will be shared with you. The Food Dosing Strategy determines the approximate length of your child’s treatment plan and the treatment foods they will challenge in the TIP program.
Your child’s treatment plan has been created specifically for them. At times it may be necessary to adjust treatment plans during the process in response to the changing needs of your child. Normal developmental changes that arise, like growth spurts and hormonal changes, may require an adjustment to their plan depending on how each individual child’s immune system processes these changes.
Concurrent medical conditions like asthma may play a role in the length of time as they will need to be managed and controlled well to progress in the program. Therefore, the length of time required to complete TIP is an approximation.
Each child will have a Food Dosing Strategy that will explain the order of allergens that will be challenged and treated.
Our clinical staff will explain your child’s recommended foods, maintenance foods, and treatment food.
Our clinical staff will explain what anaphylaxis is and how to address it, if needed. Your child’s Anaphylaxis Plan will be given to you during your appointment and explained by a physician.
All of the required prescriptions will be given to you at this time. We will not fill these medications prior to this appointment. It is important that you are instructed on the proper use of these medications before administering them in the interest of your child’s safety.
