Diagnostic Lab

All TIP treatment plans start with in-depth blood testing performed at our state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory, TPIRC Diagnostics. Our innovative approach helps ensure that each treatment plan is patient-tailored for optimal outcomes.

Precision Diagnostics

Specializing in allergy and pediatric pulmonology diagnostics, our diagnostic lab is the only facility capable of running the advanced testing and analytics required to create highly individualized TIP treatment plans. The lab carries one of the world's most diverse allergen menus with over 200 allergens. Over 30% of these allergens are for component testing to identify the specific proteins in a food a patient is allergic to. This robust blood testing allows us to capture a complete image of a patient's immune system and identify the optimal path toward food allergy remission for each patient's unique needs.

In this video, Operations Manager Peter Ngo will share more about what makes TPIRC Diagnostics a leader in allergy diagnostics.

Faster, More Accurate Results

Each TIP patient is tested for an average of 130 allergens, delivering quick, accurate results to support the timely development of personalized treatment plans. Our diagnostics lab also examines several proteins within a single allergen—such as the six most prevalent proteins in peanuts— far surpassing the capabilities of traditional labs. This comprehensive approach is essential for identifying similar food proteins used in TIP treatment.

Due to our lab's advanced testing, most patients only need to visit once a year, requiring just six testing tubes of blood. In contrast, traditional labs often require multiple visits and more than double the number of samples.

Innovation and Dedication

Our Food Lab team is deeply committed to innovation and continuously strives to enhance patient experience and treatment outcomes. While we maintain high standards, we also focus on pioneering new products. Our internal Product Development team actively designs, prototypes, and launches innovative items, including new gummies, remission and maintenance bars, and the upcoming TIP Tarts. This dedication to innovation ensures that the Tolerance Induction Program remains at the forefront of food allergy treatment, consistently improving patient outcomes and experiences.

Diagnostic Lab FAQs

What Makes TPIRC Diagnostics Different From Other Labs?

Superior Testing Standards

TPIRC Diagnostics utilizes highly specialized testing equipment and implores strict testing standards to produce highly accurate results. While Quest and LabCorp may offer some of the same tests we run, they are not run under the same conditions to optimize reproducibility and accuracy.

Comprehensive Allergen Menu

The lab has a complex and vast allergen menu with over 200+ allergens and 60 components that allow us to identify the specific proteins in an allergen a patient is allergic to.

For example, if a patient is allergic to a peanut, they are allergic to one of the 17 proteins in a peanut. Of those 17 proteins, six are the most common culprits of allergic reactions. TPIRC Diagnostics tests for all six peanut proteins, whereas other labs may only test for two. This in-depth testing is vital to identifying similar proteins for TIP treatment.

IgG4 Testing

TPIRC Diagnostics is also one of the few labs that tests for IgG4. IgG4 is vital for tracking your progress throughout treatment. As IgE levels decrease, your IgG4 levels will increase indicating tolerance built.

Customized Treatment Plans & Real-Time Adjustments

Using in-depth, highly accurate data from blood testing allows us to build treatment plans customized to a patient's unique immune system. Testing data also allows us to make real-time adjustments to your plan throughout treatment to ensure your patient is always on the most optimal path toward food allergy remission.

Expert Lab Technicians & Faster Results

Our lab technicians are specifically trained to perform testing and analyze results to support the creation of TIP treatment plans.  The lab also produces faster results with less blood drawn than other testing facilities, creating a better experience for our patients.

Can we go to another lab besides TPIRC Diagnostics, like Quest or LabCorps for testing?

Unfortunately, no. TIP's highly customized and detailed treatment plans can only be created using accurate and reproducible data from TPIRC Diagnostics' high-level complexity lab. The testing for the Tolerance Induction Program™ (TIP) is unlike any other testing you have completed in the past. Due to the complexity of our diagnostics process and the importance of your child’s data in the design of their unique treatment protocol, we cannot rely on results or records from any previous blood work or skin test. Our program is based on accurate, consistent, and accountable testing methods. As such, we cannot rely on testing or results performed outside of our diagnostic model.

Are there any tests/panels that other labs can perform?
No. Labs like Quest and LabCorp do not have the same strict operation standards, leading to potential variability in test results. As such, the accuracy of testing at Quest and LabCorp cannot be guaranteed. The variability of test results from these labs is too risky to utilize in our data systems and machine learning. While Quest and LabCorp may offer some of the same tests we run, they are not run under the same conditions to optimize reproducibility and accuracy. TPIRC Diagnostics is a CLIA Certified, high-complexity laboratory focused on supporting the diagnostic requirements for the Food Allergy Institute’s Tolerance Induction Program™ (TIP). TPIRC Diagnostics is currently the only diagnostic facility that is able to perform the complete set of tests necessary to develop and maintain the treatment plans utilized in the Tolerance Induction Program.
How Many Blood Draws Will I Have?

There is a minimum requirement of one comprehensive blood draw every 1.5 years. However, your Food Allergy Institute provider will determine what is necessary based on your plan.

TPIRC Diagnostics draws blood “all at once” in one visit with hundreds of tests drawn in a single, low-volume draw. Traditional laboratories will require twice as many vials and the draws are repeated over multiple days.

How much does blood testing cost?

The max out-of-pocket cost for your once-annual blood draw is $2,500. There is a minimum requirement of one comprehensive blood draw every 1.5 years

Testing costs cover our comprehensive allergen menu of 200+ allergens and specialty testing equipment.
