Frequently Asked
Questions
-
What is an FAI Affiliate?
An FAI Affiliate, such as Cure Allergy in DFW, is a carefully selected, independent local allergy practice that has officially partnered with the Food Allergy Institute (FAI). To ensure the highest levels of safety, precision, and care, these affiliates are comprehensively trained and certified by FAI to administer the Tolerance Induction Program® (TIP) protocol. This partnership brings FAI's specialized, life-changing treatment directly to your community.
-
Why is FAI partnering with local physicians as opposed to building their own clinics?
Our primary mission is to expand access to the life-changing Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) as quickly and safely as possible. Partnering with respected local practices like Cure Allergy allows us to:
● Increase Reach Rapidly: Leverage existing, high-quality medical infrastructure and experienced local physician teams to serve more patients immediately.
● Maintain Local Expertise: Combine FAI's specialized TIP knowledge with the Affiliate's deep understanding of the local healthcare landscape and community needs.
● Enhance Convenience: Provide a local, accessible option for patients, reducing the burden of extensive travel for treatment.
This affiliate model ensures that the quality and precision of TIP remain consistent while making the treatment available to a wider population.
-
What will be different if I go to an Affiliate vs an FAI Site?
The primary differences in moving to an Affiliate site will be:
● Staff: Affiliates provide specialized care from local physicians and staff. This dedicated team is certified by the Food Allergy Institute (FAI) after in-depth training to deliver the Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) protocol.
● Appointment Scheduling: Affiliate operations are managed directly by the affiliate practice. Your treatment schedule will follow the Food Allergy Institute's standard visit cycle protocol. This ensures a consistent, high-quality patient experience, mirroring the proven methodology of FAI sites for consultation, treatment, monitoring, and follow-up. This standardized approach guarantees uniform care, data collection, clinical oversight, efficacy, and safety across the FAI network.
● Billing: The Affiliate practice will directly handle office visits, food challenges, and all visit-related charges, including co-pays, through its existing payor contracts.
a. TIP Fees and Aperture Diagnostics charges will still be managed directly by FAI.
b. Patients utilizing the TIP Bundle for program fees will not see any changes to their financial billing.
● Facility Appearance: Affiliates are independently owned and managed professional practices. This autonomy means affiliate locations will have their own unique aesthetic and feel, reflecting their independence while upholding the core professional standards associated with FAI. We have partnered closely with the affiliates to ensure they have all the necessary equipment and supplies to administer the Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) and other specialized services. Because each affiliate manages its own physical space, you may find that areas, such as those dedicated to post-challenge exercise, will look different based on the available space and layout—a variation you'll even see across our existing FAI-managed sites. The commitment remains to create a comfortable space that meets the needs of pediatric and adult food allergy patients.
Crucially, the medical protocol (TIP) itself will not be different.
-
What will be the same at an Affiliate?
Everything that defines the integrity and success of the Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) remains the same:
● The TIP Protocol: The exact, proprietary, science-based treatment plan designed to achieve food tolerance will be delivered with the same precision and commitment to safety.
● Physician Expertise: Affiliate physicians and staff undergo rigorous, ongoing training and certification by FAI to ensure complete mastery and adherence to our TIP protocol.
● Safety Standards: The commitment to patient safety, risk mitigation, and emergency readiness is identical to FAI's established standards.
● Diagnostic and Monitoring Procedures: All necessary testing, ongoing monitoring, and communication processes will align perfectly with FAI's best practices.
● Ultimate Goal: The commitment to achieving stable, durable food tolerance for every patient remains the highest priority.
● Reaction Management: If you experience a reaction, you will continue to use the FAI Command Center through our phone line or the TIP Help form in TIP Connect.
● TIP Connect Communication: TIP Connect and the TIP Help Form will continue to be your primary point of contact with FAI through treatment for requesting additional food doses, notification of illness, or treatment plan pauses or adjustments.
● School Forms/Letters: Any school forms or letters required will now be provided by the Affiliate practice. FAI can still take your request and forward it to the affiliate, but working directly with the Affiliate will speed up the process.

Can I receive care at multiple locations?
Once you have selected a primary location for your appointments, we ask that you continue your care there to ensure the best possible coordination and focus on your progress. Maintaining a single "home" office allows our team to provide you with the most seamless experience. If an emergency or a move requires you to visit a different location, please reach out to us so we can discuss the best way to accommodate your needs.
