Food Freedom Fun Fest!

On Saturday, April 23, The Southern California Food Allergy Institute hosted its first patient event Food Freedom Fun Fest at The Salvation Army Corps and Community Center in Long Beach, CA. Food Freedom Fun Fest was a TIP patient community event, designed especially for our patients.

Chef Julie

Upon arrival, our patients received a snack pack filled with allergy-safe goodies: donut holes, applesauce, rice cakes, and That’s It fruit bars. Allergy-friendly popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones were part of the fun as well! Multiple patients had their first-ever cotton candy with us and we couldn’t be more excited to witness that special moment. The food didn’t stop there though! We had a personal chef making crispy Potato Latkes and yummy Blondie Bars. Those were a crowd favorite! Chef Julie even did a live demonstration to show parents and kids how to make these delicious snacks. Carnival games, bounce houses, and a DJ were part of our Food Freedom Fun Fest as well! Our patients could enjoy playing on the open turf field while listening to kid-friendly music. A big birthday celebration was included in the festivities too! We understand birthdays look a little different for our families, which is why it’s important to celebrate! Everyone gathered around to sing “Happy Birthday” and mini vanilla cupcakes were brought out.

Dr. Randhawa, the founder and Chief Medical Officer, was present to meet all of the TIP families. We loved meeting everyone in person and being able to share success stories. It was a great chance for employees to meet patients and have fun together! We had our Tech & Data team who was presenting the new TIP app, the Food Lab team who introduced us to the new peanut gummy mold, and the Community Engagement team who gave out special prizes while informing the families about volunteer opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thank you to all our sponsors: Mos Bros Auto Group, Western Shield Label Packaging, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, Laserfiche, the City of Long Beach, Spokin, and Roland Sands Design. Another huge thank you to Long Beach Balloons and More who generously donated our beautiful balloon arch.

Food Freedom Fun Fest was a huge success and we cannot wait to host more events in the future!
