Common questions

Helpful to know before referring.

Referral guidance, program details, and practical information for your office.

Does my patient need a confirmed diagnosis?

Families can receive program information and food allergy education while diagnostic evaluation is underway. A clinical assessment determines diagnosis and treatment eligibility. Patients needing diagnostic care can see their existing allergist or explore LAHA services in Southern California.

Can I refer a patient already receiving another treatment?

Yes. Include current or prior OIT, Xolair, or other treatment details so our team can provide relevant program information. Patients should continue their prescribed treatment and avoidance plans unless their treating clinician advises otherwise.

How often are treatment visits?

Treatment visits are generally scheduled every 8–10 weeks, with prescribed home dosing between visits. Onboarding, launch, testing, and other clinical needs may require additional appointments. Visit schedules and overall treatment duration are individualized.

What insurance and cost information will families receive?

FAI accepts major PPO insurance plans. Our team reviews the family’s benefits, applicable program fees, and expected out-of-pocket costs. Accepting a PPO plan does not mean every service or program fee is covered.

What is included in the program consultation?

The complimentary consultation introduces TIP, explains its treatment goals, and reviews visit schedules, insurance, costs, and next steps. Diagnostic testing and medical evaluation are arranged separately when appropriate.

What does remission with free eating mean?

TIP’s goal is for patients who successfully complete the program and receive clinical clearance to freely eat their previously restricted foods, rather than relying on avoidance alone. Patients continue to follow their clinical team’s prescribed maintenance and follow-up plan.

Give families a clearer next step.

Connect your patient with treatment information, practical guidance, and the resources to make an informed choice.
